There in the old city of Chichester he talks to the men and women who are producing Britain's food, and learns what farming means in the county that saw the Battle of Britain and is still raided regularly by the Luftwaffe. Recording of a programme broadcast earlier today to the United States in collaboration with the Columbia Broadcasting System of America.

Appeal on behalf of the Women's Land Army Benevolent Fund, by Donald McCullough
Her Majesty the Queen is Patron of the Women's Land Army Benevolent Fund, which has been recently formed to supplement cases -of hardship that are not adequately covered by State Schemes.
In addition to present reliefs the Fund will seek to provide bursaries, scholarships, and grants for post-war courses at Agricultural and Horticultural Colleges or Farm
Institutes for those who wish to continue their work on the land and aid in the resettlement to peace time occupations.
