One of the most difficult things for an amateur to do is to re-plaster a wall. But nowadays, with plain and covered plasterboards to help him, he doesn't have to. You can stick the boards to the wall direct (in that case how do you line them up?) or you can nail them on to wooden battens (which allows you to put insulating material between yourself and the outside world).
