Five wounded soldiers are recovering in a hospital in Burma. They are a cheerful, happy bunch of men under the attractive eye of Sister Margaret. But trouble starts when Sergeant Lachlan McLachlan - the dourest of dour Scots - arrives to occupy the sixth bed. Comedy and pathos are brilliantly intertwined in this much-loved play.
