A film series based on Sir Winston Churchill's Memoirs of World War II.
With the object of putting Italy out of the war as quickly as possible, Churchill and Roosevelt plan the Allied landings in Sicily and Italy. In spite of the Italian capitulation in Sicily, the Germans fight on and strongly oppose the landings across the Straits of Messina and at Salerno. Italy's Marshal Badoglio surrenders to Eisenhower and declares war on Germany, their former ally. Naples is taken and Churchill calls on the Italians to march with their British and American allies to a victory which now seems within their grasp.
