His old shipmate tells him that somewhere in Liverpool is Uncle Joe's cafe, where these things are laid on for the asking... or rather, where they used to be laid on, for the old man is not sure whether Uncle Joe is still in business. Jack sets out to find the cafe and the play is the story of his search.
