Joey the clown, suddenly overcome with the many problems involved in bringing up a child, feels that Corky needs a mother's care. He decides he must marry in order to give Corky a normal life, but to a confirmed bachelor like Joey a decision of this kind gives rise to several serious problems. There are dangers too, such as Big Pete, the boss canvas man, who regards his unmarried sister as a suitable match for Joey.
