Tonight, for the first time, television is taking you to the sea. Cameras have been set up at the end of Southend Pier and if the weather is suitable you will see some of the pier-head activities and also watch a practice launch of the lifeboat. Richard Dimbleby is there to introduce the members of the crew and to take part in a breeches-buoy 'rescue'.
