Gordon Russell, the distinguished furniture designer who was recently appointed Director of the Council of Industrial Design, discusses with Frank Austin and H. J. Cutler, the chair in relation to materials, methods of manufacture, social habits, and occupational requirements.
Specialist craftsmen are seen at work on different types of chair, each showing a particular type of construction.
