Terry hosts the 'Money Can't Buy' auction for BBC Children in Need from 8am-9am on his breakfast show from Monday (16th) until Thursday (19th November). This will be his last auction as presenter of the Radio 2 breakfast show as he leaves the Breakfast Show at the end of the year. On Friday (20th November) the whole station gets involved to raise money for the charity with Radio 2's 'Music Marathon', starting with Sarah Kennedy at 6am and concluding at 7pm with Chris Evans. During Radio 2's 'Music Marathon' for Children in Need listeners pledge money to have a chance to hear their favourite song played by their favourite Radio 2 DJ.

'MONEY CAN'T BUY' AUCTION LOTS DURING THE REST OF THE WEEK:
On Wednesday, 18th November: A luxury make-over with the fashion expert Gok Wan is up for auction! So is a glimpse behind-the-scenes during filming of 'Lark Rise to Candleford'; a VIP lunch with three national treasures - Maureen Lipman, Michael Palin and Sir Terry Wogan; and there's a chance for someone to steam ahead from London to York by riding on the footplate of The Tornado (the only steam locomotive to be built in Britain since 1960).

On Thursday, 19th November: Terry rounds off his last 'Money Can't Buy' auction for Children in Need as Radio 2's breakfast show presenter. He gives listeners the chance to bid to spend a day on set during filming of the new series of 'Marple' with Julia McKenzie and be a supporting actor! Other lots on offer include help from the expert genealogists behind BBC TV's 'Who Do You Think You Are?'; dinner with Westlife or the legendary Chef Raymond Blanc (these are two separate lots); and there's a treat for fans of Six Nations Rugby.

As Spandau Ballet return to live performance for the first time in 19 years, Jonathan Ross tells the story of five mates from Dame Alice Owen's School in Islington, North London, who became one of the biggest UK bands of the 80s.

Jonathan Ross has been a fan of Spandau Ballet since he was a regular at the Blitz, the club where they performed and which some consider the birthplace of New Romanticism. All five band members - Tony Hadley, Gary Kemp, Martin Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble - contribute to the programme. It covers the band's beginnings, the heady days at the Blitz, the glory days of chart topping singles and platinum albums, and outrageous 80s fashion. Followed by decline, a bitter break up, years of legal arguments and the eventual reformation earlier this year, with a new album and tour.

The Spandau Ballet story remembers the massively popular, but indulgent 80s music scene, when New Romantic bands evolved from fashion driven icons to become major international rock stars. Theirs is a traditional rock 'n' roll story of indulgence, disintegration and eventual re-incarnation, told in an open and frank style by the five guys who first dreamt of stardom as school mates back in 1976.

Journeys to Glory: the Spandau Ballet Story

Following their auspicious and ear-catchingly mannered 1980 debut hit To Cut a Long Story Short and the critically noted Chant No 1 (I Don't Need This Pressure on) in 1981, London act Spandau Ballet evolved into video-era stars, surpassed only by Duran Duran as the biggest thing to come out of the New Romantic movement. Their pull with the rock press took a nosedive, but their chart confidence and export status soared, especially with the 1983 breath-heavy ballad blockbuster True and its follow-up Gold. Fan Jonathan Ross looks at the quintet's 1980s peaks and excesses, their decline and bitter break-up, and this year's re-formation. Featuring interviews with the band. Producer Des Shaw

Asleep at the Wheel frontman Ray Benson charts the history of Western Swing music.

Ray Benson explores the early careers of Western Swing bandleaders Bob Wills and Milton Brown and looks at what makes a Western Swing line-up.

In the 1930s, when the urban dance halls of America were ringing to the swing sounds of Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie, a unique form of dance music was taking hold in the rural South West. Exposed to big band influences through the radio, rural string bands took jazz and big band music and adapted it for their traditional instruments. Country fiddles, banjos and steel guitars played alongside horns, drums and pianos. Also feeding into this music were the diverse cultural influences prevalent in 1930s Texas and Oklahoma.  This was an area filled with the sounds of different communities. Czech and German polka, Mexican mariachi, Cajun and blues were all part of the soundtrack of the Southwest and bled into this new style of music, which would later become known as 'Western Swing'. It was a sound which was to become the lifeblood of the Texan dancehall for the next twenty years, and provide America with a musician regarded by many as 'the best band leader of all time' - Bob Wills.

In this five part series Ray Benson, the founder and lead singer of Grammy winning Western Swing band 'Asleep at the Wheel' charts the history and development of this music. He celebrates the people who created, developed and refined the Western Swing sound, and joins some of the players, enthusiasts and fans who are keeping this unique part of America's musical history alive for the next generation.

The series features contributions from Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett  and The Hot Club of Cowtown plus former members of 'Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys' Johnny Gimble, Herb Remington, Bobby Koefer, Louise Rowe and Leon Rausch.

In the second part of the series Ray Benson charts the early careers of Western Swing bandleaders Bob Wills and Milton Brown. After meeting at a house party in 1930 the two men went on to perform together in a series of bands , culminating in 'The Light Crust Doughboys' , named after their radio sponsors Light Crust Flour. The programme explores how this band provided the launch pad for the two biggest Western swing bands of the 1930s - 'Bob Wills and his Texas playboys', and 'Milton Brown and his Musical Brownies'.  We also hear about the importance of instrumentation and improvisation to the Western swing sound, and how the role of the singer became key to the popularity of the music.

The story continues with the early careers of Texan band leaders Bob Wills (1905-75) and Milton Brown (1903-36), who performed together in several bands. Each went on to achieve even greater fame with their own acts, though Brown died young in a car crash.
