Another chance to hear Charles Hazlewood's profile of André Previn (aka Andrew Preview). 

Born on 6 April 1929 in Berlin, André emigrated with his family to the United States ten years later and became one of the most distinguished musicians of our time.

His collection of awards includes Grammys, Oscars (four in total for film scores including My Fair Lady and Gigi), the Austrian and German Cross of Merit, the Lifetime Achievement Award of the LSO and a British Knighthood.

This series is written by Russell Davies and includes contributions from Sir John Dankworth and Dame Cleo Laine, Denis Wick, John Ammonds, David Finck, Richard Sherman and Sir Tom Stoppard. It first broadcast in April 2009 to coincide with a season of concerts at Carnegie Hall celebrating his 80th birthday.
