Tilson-Thomas, Previn and the LSO
In the orchestral jockeying of the front runners in town, the London
Symphony Orchestra, with its own established stables in the Barbican, seems safe, noses ahead of the London Philharmonic
Orchestra, only just made resident in the Festival Hall.
While Philharmonic is a youthful contender, Symphony has the successful Michael Tilson -
Thomas as music director and, as laureate conductor. Andre Previn , who groomed the orchestra during 1968-1979. The two LSO conductors. Sir Neville Marriner and manager Clive Gillinson take part in the programme. Presented by John Amis. Producer Madeleine Cuming
