The Gillette London Marathon
As Radio 2 transmits the start at 9.30 this morning, some 17,000 runners will set off from Blackheath along the 26 mile, 385 yards route to Westminster Bridge.
Cliff Morgan plays music to match the mood of London's day out and along the route David Hamilton, Jimmy Hill, Gloria Hunniford, Peter Jones and Ray Moore share, with the crowds, the fortunes of the runners as the international athletes go out to win the race and the part-time Joggers set, off to prove that they too can complete a marathon course.
