"The last musical I ever did and the last I'll ever do was Noel Coward 's After the Ball. It wasn't Coward's best and I don't think it had any outstanding music. I'd looked forward in a way to working for him so and it was a great disappointment to me. I don't know why, but when After the Ball was finished, I knew I would never want to sing again.'
