Presented by Vanessa Lee
In this first programme VANESSA LEE sets the scene for the story of the British Musical Theatre, as seen and told by those incredible women who made it what M is.
' They were among the great beauties of this century. Some of them were just plain - well: " plain ". A couple of them were downright ugly. But they had glamour, every one of them. Great voices that filled our theatres. Some of them couldn't sing at all. That never stopped them. They were among the greatest theatrical dancers of their time. And those that weren't even dancers persuaded you they were by force of personality.' Series devised and written by FRANK SALTER
