The Early Recordings of Toscanini
The bulk of Toscanini's recordings date from the end of his long career, when he was conductor of the NBC Orchestra. But according to many people, he was in his prime in the 1920s and 1930s.
Robert Philip introduces recordings from this period, in which Toscanini conducts the orchestra of La Scala, Milan, the Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra of New York, and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
