Erich Korngold , Miklos Rozsa and Max Steiner.
If Wagner had lived today, he would have been our number one film composer. MAX STEINER All three composers brought their Central European traditions to Hollywood, and to the composition of what
Korngold described as 'operas without words'. Steiner (born 1888) devoted his career almost entirely to film music; but his fellow-Viennese Korngold, and the Hungarian-born Rozsa divided their energies between the film studio and the concert hall.
Steiner All This and Heaven Too (main title); Casablanca

The first UK broadcast of Boris Blacher 's chamber opera of 1943. Wartime deprivation prompted this miniaturised version of Shakespeare's play which fuses Weill-like tunes with Stravinskian objectivity, and anticipates by some
20 years the atmosphere of Britten's church parables. (Sung in German)
