Musical Ends
To commemorate the passing of another calendar a series of musical finalities: Kurt Weill 's Happy End and Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time balance the cautionary end of music's great philanderer as portrayed by Mozart and Strauss, together with a codetta of composers who met their ends in curious circumstances - Chausson on the bicycle and Pergolesi from an orange. The veil is discreetly drawn by Christopher Hogwood at the request of the under-20s.
