An appreciation by RICHARD BEBB
Some of the most remarkable records ever made are those of Reynaldo Hahn , the close friend of Marcel Proust and the idol of Parisian society in the 1890s. With only a thread of a voice he nevertheless had a technique and a musicianship that place him firmly among the great singers. A man of amazingly diverse talents, he is unaccountably neglected today. In this programme, in which his music is revalued, the recordings are of Hahn himself or of artist* he greatly admired.
