with an appreciation of Chuck Berry

An hour is barely long enough to look at one of the great pioneers of rock 'n' roll, but Paul Gambaccini sums up:
'He was the first rock star to really sing and write in the language of the teenager about the things on their minds, and put it all down in a very clever rhyming scheme. He made sure that all the lyrics could be heard clearly - ensuring radio play, a point where so many other Black artists failed. His songs have also been covered more than other pioneers. I have a great deal of respect for him.'
