Stevie Davies dramatises her novel, a love story that unfolds against a background of guilt, memory and the legacy of the Second World War.
It is 1958 and Isolde takes up a teaching post at a school in Germany, in the building that housed the rump Nazi command at the end of the war. Here she finds not only the new life she is searching for but also disturbing echoes of her own family's past.

Lance Corporal Mike Baronowski was killed in action on 29 November 1966 in Vietnam. He left behind an extraordinary legacy of recordings, which he had sent home to family and friends. They contain vivid and often comic reflections on his battlefield environment and experiences. The story of his life and death is told through the tapes, which were left to collect dust on top of a cupboard for 30-odd years, and from the differing perspectives of two Marine comrades and Baronowski's brother and sister.
