The Saturday Play:The Element of Water

on BBC Radio 4 FM

Stevie Davies dramatises her novel, a love story that unfolds against a background of guilt, memory and the legacy of the Second World War.
It is 1958 and Isolde takes up a teaching post at a school in Germany, in the building that housed the rump Nazi command at the end of the war. Here she finds not only the new life she is searching for but also disturbing echoes of her own family's past.
