1: Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland, Prime Minister of Norway
In the first of this year's series of seven international phone-in programmes, callers worldwide are invited to put questions to Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland. Norway's first woman prime minister, Mrs Brundtland took office last May. Once described as 'tougher than any man', she has needed all her political skills to cope with the problems caused for the Norwegian economy by the decline in the price of oil. Since 1984 Mrs Brundtland has been Chairman of the United Nations
Commission on Environment and Development, which has been conducting one of the most extensive inquiries ever made into the environmental state of the planet Earth. Its report was published last Monday.

Thora Hird invites you to celebrate her 50th year of married life with a look at love, marriage and family life.

"When for Scottie and I the wedding day came, it was at the Wesleyan Chapel in Green Street, Morecambe. Scottie wore a black jacket and pin stripes and had a wing collar and cravat. Yours truly was done up in a high-necked dress and I had an enormous bunch of lilies that began to wilt long before the wedding guests."

Thora is joined by Janette Scott and Jeffrey Holland to help with the readings.
Peter Goodwright makes a special appearance to help re-create a scene from "Meet the Wife."
