The Swiftlet Caves
Crying snakes that catch bats in the dark; blind white crabs that climb walls like spiders; giant crickets that crack open birds' eggs; and cave swiftlet nests that supply a multi-million-dollar soup industry - all part of the remarkable community of animals living in the world's largest caves in Malaysia. Phil Chapman, of Bristol
Museum, tells of his adventures in the caverns where a foot wrong could mean drowning in a quicksand of water-logged guano.

The Thomas the Tank Engine Man
Thomas, Gordon, Henry and the Fat Controller are just a few of the Railway Series characters who have become near legends in the lifetime of their creator, The Rev W. Awdry. He now lives in retirement from parish work, but his stories chronicling life among the engines on the island of Sodor are as popular with children and their parents today as they were when first published in 1945. In recent years, Thomas's rise to television stardom has introduced a new dimension to the well-loved books. Brian Sibley meets The
Rev W. Awdry and looks at the man behind those really useful engines.

The Artists of Terezin
Terezin (Theresienstadt), in Bohemia, was a ghetto created by the Nazis to deceive public opinion. There were shops, a coffee house and a special bank, while the SS even made a film showing happy Jews in a Jewish city. For the inmates, it was little more than a staging-post for Auschwitz. To propagate the lie, the Nazis permitted a lively cultural life.
Christopher Cook visits Terezin and talks to survivors of the ghetto about art, music and theatre created by artists facing almost certain death.
