A semi-autobiographical play by Hugh Jenkins
London, 1924. Paul Davies is a 14-year-old soloist In his local church choir. Fighting a disbelief in God within himself, he is also fighting for an agreed scale of payment for each solo sung by the boy choristers. Their choirmaster, Mr Price, is firmly opposed to any fixed payment - so Paul gathers his fellow soloists together to 'fight for their rights'. Mr Price brands him 'a bloody Trade Unionist'.
