With their legacy of folklore and tall tales grown out of a flat landscape, the Fens are a world apart. Wild fenmen once walked on stilts through the marshes, and skated over frozen fields in winter, fighting off any outsiders who ventured onto their territory. The land has changed greatly now, but this strange other-worldliness remains. Roy Plomley explores the Fenland legends and stories with the help of Leo McKern and Diane Keen.
