A series of six true stories
Narrated by Rene Cutforth
Written and produced by Alan Burgess
With Richard Bebb as David Davies
When in 1940 Gladys Aylward fled to safety with her 100 Chinese orphans across the wild Shansi mountains, the man left behind as superintendent of the mission was David Davies. Inevitably, he was arrested by the Japanese and accused of spying. Imprisoned for years in medieval jails in primitive conditions, he was tortured; but he was determined to keep both his faith and his sanity no matter what they did to him.
