Imagine a child of seven, quite beautiful, but who screams uncontrollably, cannot talk and cannot recognise her mother's love. Her body is perfect though her mind is not.
Fourteen years ago that was Ann Hodges , an autistic child born before the handicap was generally recognised. Today, through the remarkable devotion and strength of her family. Ann can read. write, talk, is affectionate - and wants a job. In the first part of this programme the Hodges tell the story of Ann's release from her very private world. But what is autism, what are the problems of diagnosis and treatment, and what help is available? That is the theme of the discussion which follows the story of Ann, between three experts on autism:

People and Politics in Ulster
Although only one of Ulster's 12 mps at Westminster supports the Sunningdale Agreement, politicians within the Province have shown the ability this year to compromise and share the task of government.
How close are the people of Northern Ireland to a lasting solution? In the end that will not be determined by the politicians but by the people themselves.
