The Hero who Played the Cornet by DANIEL KATZ : a comedy translated by KEVIN O'MALLEY from RENAUD ROSSET 'S French version of the Finnish original with Eleanor Bron as Vera Nerys Hughes as Lena and Leonard Fenton as Benno Benno , a Finnish Jew, is. because of his Russian origin, conscripted into the Tsar's army in the 1914-18 war. When he is reported injured, his wife Vera and her friend Lena set off to find him. Their adventures are funny but the implications of the story are often serious and moving. Producer BETTY DAVIES
