Overnight highlights from the the BMX, featuring world champion Shanaze Reade, the men's long distance swimming with a second chance for David Davies to win a medal and the start of the decathlon in the Bird's Nest Stadium.

At the sailing in Qingdao, the final two medals are decded in the Tornado and Star classes. Can Iain percy win a second Olympic gold?

At Shunyi, there are more canoeing semi-finals. Tim Brabants is in action in the K1 500m in which he won world championship silver last year.

Phillips Idowu will attempt to add Olympic gold to the world indoor title he won earleir this year and there is an epic battle in prospect in the 110 hurdles final as new world record holder Dayron Robles of Cuba comes up against China's great sporting hero Liu Xiang.

In canoeing, the second day of semi-finals focuses on the short 500m sprints. Tim Brabants will hopefully have ecured his second final place in the K1 500, and many hope to see Lucy Wainwright in the Women's K1 500.

The modern pentathlon moves on to the riding phase, and it is very much a lottery, as riders have no say on which horse they have to compete.  Britain's Sam Weale and Nick Woodbridge hope the draw is kind to them. 

And in table-tennis there is more action from the singles competition. The women are at the quarter-final stage and the men are competing for quarter final places.

Plus, news of other events. including the first volleyball women's semi-final.

It is the final competition at Sha Tin racehorse in Hong Kong, the individual show jumping title. Great Britain have never won individual gold, in fact our last medal was silver for Ann Moore riding Pslam in 1972.
