6/9. The Arbours Crisis Centre is the only place in the UK where the psychotherapists share their home with their patients. If things don't work out for Tamsin, who's lived with mental illness for three years, she'll be returned to a locked psychiatric ward. This harrowing film follows her progress.

Documentary: ONE life 10.35pm BBC1
Catey Sexton's harrowing film documents three months in the life of Tamsin, a 29-year-old who has suffered fits and mental illness for the past three years. Tamsin is currently living with a team of therapists at Arbours Crisis Centre, founded in 1970 as an alternative to psychiatric hospitals where patients are usually locked in.
But while the softly spoken therapists encourage her to talk about her problems, Tamsin's having none of it. It's painful seeing anyone suffering such emotional anguish and distress: as well as scenes of her fitting, the cameras often show Tamsin hiding under a table hugging a teddy bear and whimpering.
Documentaries often have to tread a fine line between getting close enough to the subject to be interesting and being so downright intrusive you can't bear to watch. Sometimes only the individual viewer can decide whether or not they feel comfortable, and this is one such occasion. (JR)
