For many, this is the flat-racing calendar's highlight of the year, Presented live from the rolling
Epsom Downs by Sue Barker and Clare Balding.
The Derby has produced some of racing's all-time great winners, among them Lammtarra and Shergar since its first running in 1780, but there's added spice this year with Kieren Fallon bidding to become the first jockey since 1923 to win a third successive time. Last year's triumph on North Light followed his success on Kris Kin. The big race, run over one mile and four furlongs, is at 4.20, with other starts at 2.00, 2.30, 3.00 and
3.30. Commentary is by Jim McGrath. Highlights at 12.10am. TV presentation Gerry Morrison ; Editor Carl Hicks www.bbc.co.uk/racing
