'Globespanners' is the name given to the great bird family of waders by the famous wildfowler-naturalist of north-east England, Abel Chapman. They really do 'span the globe', flying annually from northernmost Eurasia to southernmost Africa. A major port of call is Teesmouth, where despite expanding industrialisation the number of visiting waders is increasing.
Based on a Royal Society for the Protection of Birds version prepared by Anthony Clay, which won a first prize in the National Festival of Nature Films competition held in National Nature Week, April 1966.
