Michel Blavet (born at Besançon, 1700 ; died in Paris, 1768) had a great reputation as a flautist in Paris and in other European cities. He visited Prussia, and Frederic II, who was charmed with his playing, endeavoured to retain his services. Blavet, however, preferred to return to Paris, where he obtained several important posts and eventually became Superintendent of Music to the Comte de Clermont.
