by Peter Smithson.
Earlier this year the speaker, a young architect, went to Greece for the second time. Apart from visits to many sacred sites he studied classical fortifications and town lay-outs in Attica and the Peloponnese. In this talk he examines some nineteenth-and twentieth-century theories about the grouping of Greek buildings. He refers to The Idea of Space in Greek Architecture by Rex Martienssen, and The Pelican History of Greek Architecture by A. W. Lawrence.
