Last week the Library Association held its annual Conference, and tonight Arthur Calder-Marshall takes the chair at a discussion in which the functions and problems of various types of libraries will be considered by experienced representatives. Edward Sidney puts the case for the public librarian; and Captain G. R. Barrow , O.R.E., R.N., and Andrew Shirley speak for two main classes of circulating library. (It may be remembered that in February a similar discussion entitled 'The Truth about Publishing ' was broadcast in the Third Programme)
