Why People Read
S. C. Roberts , Charles Wintour , and a Reader
This new series of talks will enquire into the reasons why people read, the pleasure they derive from their reading, and whether, by the full use of the available facilities, this pleasure could be increased. In the first talk to be broadcast this evening, S. C. Roberts , secretary of the Cambridge University Press, Charles Wintour , an undergraduate who hopes to take up a career in the literary world, and a representative of the regular reading public, will discuss the question ' Why People Read'.
