THE WEEK'S GOOD CAUSE

An appeal on behalf of THE BRITISH WIRELESS FOR THE BLIND FUND (Local Maintenance Appeal. Registered under the Blind Persons Act, 1920) by T. J. PARRY 
The broadcast for funds for ' Maintenance of Wireless Sets' should not be confused with the appeal made at Christmas time by the ' British Wireless Fund for the Blind The present appeal is to maintain the sets provided by the Christmas Fund. The total inclusive income of the blind in Wales varies from a maximum of 12s. 6d. per week in one county to 22s. 6d. allowed by the most generous authority. It can, therefore, be realised that even the re-charging of the accumulator would take away sixpence which might be used for something more essential, such as bread or coal. 
The Institutions for the Blind in Wales, which cater for about six thousand persons, are all working on overdrafts and therefore. have no funds available for this particular purpose. No doubt, the public will appreciate the necessity of providing funds so that our blind people can enjoy the boon which broadcasting has brought into the lives of all. 
T. J. Parry , who makes the appeal this evening, is well known for his untiring efforts on behalf of the blind. He is a member of the Executive Councils of National Bodies operating for the .blind.
