E. J. PLAISTED
E. J. Plaisted is a product of the South Wales coalfields, having worked underground for twenty-five years, until the lock-out of 1926, when he was obliged to look for work in other directions. His endeavours have unfortunately not been successful, for he has been unemployed for the past five years His interest in politics, both local and national, which he developed from an early age, has, however, been stimulated, for in addition to having contested two Parliamentary Elections, the Isle of Thanet in 1929 and Salisbury in the General Election last November, he has a seat on the Bristol City Council. Tonight he will recall some of the interesting episodes which have occurred during the time he has lived in South Wales and the West of England.
