The first festival was held in the County Pavilion, Newtown, with Sir Walford Davies and Mr. Bumford Griffiths as conductors, and a choir of 1,000 voices from the district elementary schools, with an orchestra drawn from the violin classes held in the county under the auspices of the County Recreation Association.
