(From Plymouth)
From Time Immemorial, each May 8, the inhabitants of Helston have celebrated the coming of spring by the performance of their now nationally famous Furry Dance.
The principal dance takes place at the hour of noon, when the leading inhabitants, the men in silk hats and morning coats, and the ladies in their brightest dresses, dance their way round the town. In through the front doors of the houses they go, pealing every bell and rapping every knocker, and so out through the back.
