Max Gerald 's first cinema appointment was at Swinton, when he succeeded Reginald Porter-Brown .
Later he became the organist at the New Victoria Theatre, Bradford, where he orchestrated many special arrangements of popular numbers, all of which were broadcast by Sydney Phasey and his band. During this period he was known as Fred "Roe ; he assumed his present name when he came to Colwyn Bay.
