This programme will consist of medleys of popular tunes by Welsh composers alternating with American medleys. Among the numbers to be played are 'Let's have a happy ending', 'Smile when you say Goodbye' and 'My Lucky Day' by Harry Parr-Davies, the gifted Neath boy who became Gracie Fields's accompanist. Some of Ivor Novello's songs will also be heard, most of them tunes from Glamorous Night. Ivor Novello is known to Welshmen as the son of Madame Clara Novello-Davies who was born and bred in Cardiff. It may be remembered that a Welshman conducted 'Vienna, City of my Dreams' in Tauber's film Heart's Desire. He was Idris Lewis, who was at that time at the B.I.P. studios at Elstree, and is now music director for the Welsh Region.
This song will also be heard this evening.
