A Forecast of the Future-5
ELIZABETH S. HALDANE
Miss Haldane, the fifth speaker to look into the Scottish future, is one of the most distinguished Scotswomen of the time. Her experience of public affairs and the trend of their development qualifies her to talk of the future with as much certainty as is humanly possible. Miss Haldane was the first woman Justice of the Peace for Scotland. She has been Vice-Chairman of the Territorial Nursing Service, member of the Q.A.I.M. Nursing Board, manager of Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, and member of the Royal Commission on the' Civil Service. Two years ago she published ' The Scotland of our Fathers ', which aroused much comment at the time.
