The Man Livingstone

Explorer and Prophet' 
This programme was first broadcast six months ago, and is being repeated because of its great popular appeal. As most! listeners know, the tenement in Blantyre in which Livingstone was born has been made into a memorial and it is from the actual room of his birth that part of the broadcast this evening will be relayed, the remainder coming from Glasgow. 
As it is impossible to tell the story of Livingstone's life satisfactorily in an hour, John Gough has concentrated on Livingstone the Man. Earl Curzon of Kedleston has summarised Livingstone's outstanding qualities in a sentence which may serve as an introduction to the broadcast:' 'As a missionary Livingstone was the sincere and zealous servant of God ; as an explorer he was the indefatigable servant of science ; as a denouncer of the slave trade he was the fiery servant of humanity.'
