A Bird's-eye View of an Outpost being the first comprehensive effort to broadcast from a remote island light-house

The Isle of May lies in the mouth of the Firth of Forth, about six miles south-east of Crail. It measures about one mile in length and three-fourths of a mile in breadth. It was here that the first beacon lighthouse was erected in Scotland three hundred years ago, and the men who took after its modern successor will provide the broadcast. These keepers and their wives, a huge black cat, a dog, two love-birds, innumerable rabbits, and, of course, many sea birds like kittiwakes, guillemots, and gannets are the only inhabitants.
The island has several historic features, notably the ruins of a priory, which formerly belonged to the Abbey of Pittenweem, and a chapel dedicated to St. Adrian, who was killed by the Danes in 870 and buried there. There is also a stone font, to which Scottish kings are reputed to have brought their sons for baptism. This programme should prove one of the most interesting out-of-doors broadcasts this summer.
