In this broadcast to Scottish Schools Mr. Richardson will show how the introduction of gunpowder affected the building of castles, and he will draw his examples from the Castles of Edinburgh, Tantallon, Blackness and Caerlaverock. He will indicate the types of cannon that were used and the shot they fired, making reference to Mons Meg, and he will show how in these olden times a castle was mined.

The anthology of Scottish poetry, begun four months ago, is now complete, or as near complete as it can be made in the time available. Tonight listeners will again hear a number of poems written by modern poets. The readings will include a sonnet entitled ' Portrait of Mary Stuart at Holyrood ', and ' Clay-more ', by Lewis Spence , the former written in Middle Scots ; ' Jock's Song ' and ' Fisher Jamie '.by John Buchan ; ' The Princess of Scotland ', by Rachel Annand Taylor , which shows that the romantic spirit is still flourishing in Scottish poetry ; and finally ' Scotland ', by Professor Alexander Gray.
