Tonight listeners will hear the merrymaking at the traditional harvest-home supper in the granary of Scrainwood Farm, Coquetdale. After the harvest has been gathered in in the northern parts of Northumberland, a supper is held at one of the farms, and to this come farmers and hands from a wide area. Speeches are made, tales are told, songs and dances follow one another. Although these Kern Suppers are only a memory of the good old days in many parts of Northumberland, they are still held in some districts between Coquetdale and the border.
