' On Excavating Caves'
L. S. Palmer and A. Leslie Armstrong
The surface of the land is always being worn away and any traces of people who lived here before the historic age have stood very little chance of surviving until today. Caves are the best places to look for these remains; successive races of primitive man occupied them and they are sheltered from the weather. Mr. Armstrong has been excavating caves for a number of years and is the author of many papers on the subject of early man. Tonight he and Professor Palmer, of University College, Hull, will describe how the life and history of the early inhabitants are reconstructed from excavations and how the objects found there are studied.
