By the time the' Quaintesques arrived at Rusholme, the old marquee, originally opened by Harry Leslie , and visited by all the best concert parties, had been replaced by more substantial premises built on the same site. Billie Manders ,a who runs the 'Quaintesques', is a Scarborough man, and learnt his 'trade' with Will Catlin 's Royal Pierrots.
Following the Catlin tradition, the Following the Catlin tradition, the members of the troupe are all men, though some are female impesonators
They broadcast for the first time last
May, and they have since broadcast from Rhyl (their summer headquarters) as well as from Rusholme.
