HASSAN, a play of the East. was written by the late James Elroy Flecker , poet and dramatist. The incidental music was composed by his friend Delius, to whom the atmosphere of the play appealed. It was beautifully staged by Basil Dean at His Majesty's Theatre in 1923, and had a run of 281 performances. This Suite has been arranged for concert orchestra by Delius's friend and well-known amanuensis Eric Fenby.
